Ans. The hair-like fibres seen at the tip of the root are called root hairs.
(c) What is a bud? Where is it found on a plant?
Ans. (1)The angle between stem and the leaf is called axil.
(2)A small sprout grows from the axil and this later becomes a branch. (3)This sprout is called a bud. (4)Since this bud is in the axil of a leaf, it is called an axillary bud. (5)There is a terminal bud at the top of the stem as well. When this bud grows, the stem becomes taller.
(d) What is a leaf apex?
Ans. Leaf apex is the pointed tip of the leaf lamina. Leaf apex is also known as leaf tip.
